  • Title: Sales & Business Development Manager (batteries/energy storage)

  • Employment type: Employed, full-time (40 hrs/week, negotiable)

  • Reports to: Chief of Staff

  • Location: Based in Malta / remote (occasional short travel opportunities, must have working rights in Malta and be based there for at least 6 months out of the year).

We drive impact from BatteryPRO, our global network of battery experts; BatteryLAB, our platform for innovative battery projects; and BatteryEDU, our educational training programmes for battery enthusiasts.


About the role


As we grow, we are looking for an experienced sales and business development professional to lead our sales team in expanding our business. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-driven individual passionate about energy innovation and sustainable solutions. The Sales & Business Development Manager would work closely with the leadership team to create and implement a business development strategy. The ideal candidate will leverage their sales expertise, existing networks, and experience in the energy industry to meet and exceed revenue sales targets.

Battery Associates is an Irish company embracing a remote culture. We have a global team and structure our working days around team and client meetings. While we operate largely on a remote basis, you may be invited to join battery conferences and annual staff retreats, which will be crucial to your sales network. You will be the first hire for our new Malta office.


Key Responsibilities


  • Creating sales strategies to sell B.A products and services and advising on marketing for sales campaigns (including digital marketing tools).

  • Lead the end-to-end sales process, including lead generation, proposal development, negotiations, and closing deals. Experience in managing personal sales targets and applying a strategy to hitting these sales targets is crucial.

  • Supervising account management, client servicing & retention.

  • Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and cultivating successful client and partner relationships.

  • Representing B.A at trade shows, conferences and events. Being the face of the business.

  • Report on KPIs and evaluate sales performance for various B.A products and services. Managing progress against KPIs is a day to day requirement.

  • Leading sales teams and mentoring junior staff as required.


Must-Have Competencies


  • 4+ years of sales/business development experience

  • Proven track record in sales and/or business development, ideally in the consulting or energy sectors.

  • Willingness to travel as required to meet with clients and attend industry events.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and networking skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English with outstanding attention to detail; confident presenter and communicator.

  • Enthusiasm to continue learning and developing your skills and knowledge - be that battery industry trends or understanding the services clients provide.

  • Outstanding integrity and the ability to always seek to do the right thing for the client and B.A

Nice to Have Competencies


  • Experience in startup business operations

  • Knowledge about the battery industry

  • Experience in consulting and/or professional education services

  • Fluency in additional languages

  • Experience in setting up a new business entity (subsidiary)
